Re: boots
Posted by FilthyRich on Jun 04 2006
I used x-tra tuffs (insulated w/insoles) lat year in fall/winter conditions and they worked great. I have a goat tag to fill this fall and my Raichles just started to seperate at he BONDED sole seam. The first boots I have owned that did not have the sole sewn on. Now after being well broken in and ready to go they start comming apart.
I have always used leather well coatd (heat treated) with snow seal. NEVER had a problem with water getting through and have always been extra carefull to not go over the top. Worked for me.

I am waiting for a pair of Danner Fort Lewis (all leather) that are  goretex line. I will go over them as I always have with snow seal and expect they will provide the same level of water protection as I have found with other leather models. Just keep a good layer of snow seal on them and they work fine. My only concern is that they might not provide much support.
Would appreciate thoughts from the more experienced with these boots.
