The AOC
Posted by Father of 2 on May 09 2006
I joined the AOC due to the lack of choices. Need to do more reasearch on Bushrats group due to personal feelings on origionation out of Alaska. (many friends from that area.)

I am a extreme backcountry wheeler hunter who does not favor opening up the haul road to me. I never understood the controversy of hunting on orv's and atv's before I rode areas that were populated by riders out of my area. I used to believe that I deserved the chance to explore all of Alaska as I saw fit. I still do to an extent. However to open Alaska up to me I would have to justify the behavior of the rest of the people that ride ATV's. To tell you the truth, a lot of these people sicken me. Their only care in the world is about themselves and all else be damned.

If I can keep the currant trails open I would be happy. To tell you the truth many trails are closing each year due to many factors. Not all these factors are atv or orv oriented. Just political and greedy. (not a cause of people like Martentrapper or Bushrat, I agree with their thoughts as a wheeler "extremest")

You speak of a balance, find one between the all for myself hunters/guides and the love of adventure hunters/guides as well as the agendas of 100 differant forces.

Must say one thing, before you comment on Alaska, you must know what you are talking about. This is to residents and non alike. My heritage is almost gone for my kids(4th generation), it is not just the faults of environmentalists and liberals, some is our fault as is  greed as well( monetary and personal).
