Money into the economy
Posted by flying on May 04 2006
I think they are way off on what money is brought into the State and local community.

If you figure 500 hunters a year go to Kotzebue:

500 x $1200 each avg airline ticket on Alaska Airlines $600,000
500 x $1000 for license and tags to fish and game      $500,000
1/2 of the people stay overnight in Kotzebue on one end of the trip and the 1/2 stay on the other end.
500 x $100 for a room per person                       $50,000
500 x $20 to eat in Kotzebue per person                $10,000
Crowley fuel for the aircraft and boats                $75,000
Shipping meat and horns and gear on NAC or AK AIR
Anchorage Hotels
Anchorage Rent a cars
Anchorage food
Anchorage entertainment (if you know what I mean)
etc, etc, etc

You can't tell me that no money is left in the State or in Kotzebue

This doesn't include about 1 million dollars to the transporters, which all but 1 that I know of live in the state.

Cry on someone elses shoulder.  It's our land and its time we took it back.
