self guided
Posted by BlackPowderSlim on May 02 2006
Self Guided, last year was our first trip ( except for one hunter who had been there one time before) There will be 6 of us hunting. Last year we had 5 hunters. 2 got bears, one really nice one and one small one. I guy missed and one guy hit one that we could not find on the last evening. I was the only one that did not shoot. I passed a close shot at a medium bear that was rubbed, and had one really nice bear at 25 to 30 yards but the brush was so thick I deciced not to take a risky shot, Of course I never got a better one. In all I saw 17 bears. Can't wait to get back. But I will still hold out for at least a medium sized bear. Myself and one other hunter will be using 45-70 single shot rifles with black powder loads, so our range is limited to around 150 yards. I might try a shot at 200 yards, yesterday I hit a paper plate 2 shot out of 2 at 200 yards, and can consistently hit it at any range out to 150 yards, Of course that is without bear fever.
