Oh yeah a little more from the Dr.

I asked the Hand Surgeon what I should have done different (besides not poking myself)  His opinion was with the small puncture wound from the tip of the knife the only way I could have prevented the infection would have been to take a clean knife and cut open the puncture for cleaning.  There's something to think about.  Would you?  

I posted some more info below that I meant to put at the top of this thread entitled "some more info"
