I did not meet Janis or their children, but I intend on sending a personnel card to the family. My hope is that he will not be forgotten. Bill was a true outdoorsman, and advocate for hunting and fishing. many years ago he took a nice Bull Moose on a river float trip near King Salmon. I was a day behind him and noticed the way he left his camps. He left no traces. Last year I talked to him on the phone for a few minutes, I was concerned at a Federal fish and game pilots flight activities on the Kenai. He Immediatly listened to my concerns and made a call to his supervisor, so he could get more than oneside to the story. I appreciated his pofessional manner of handling things. I can only hope that our young outdoorsman will pursue positions like Bill Smoke held. We need more Bill Smokes in Alaska.
