[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] A little experience Posted by B_M on Apr 27 2006 I've done quite a bit of spot-n-stalk for black bears in the mountains of SouthCentral, but have had much better luck in the fall than in the spring. Part of this is because I've gone too early in the spring, but it's mainly because fall offers better natural bait in the blueberry and crowberry fields after the salmon runs have ended. The coats in the fall aren't quite as nice, but it's not uncommon to spot 8-10 blacks feeding on berries in a relatively small area if you're up in treeless areas right before the first snow hits.
