Peninsula Brownie
Posted by JDM on Apr 26 2006
Where on the Pacific side? I used to guide down there and have not experienced many beach bears in the spring...unless there is a dead seal or whale washed up. Most bears we took up high, not saying you wont find a down low cruiser though...A fall hunt is different with the diet being salmon on the spawn..all bears down low in/around the streams or the tidal flats. I always thought a small inflatable canoe or cataraft might be handy for crossing bigger streams and the like but never had that luxury. Streams should be low in the a.m, substantially higher in the p.m. due to runoff...a lesson you would rather learn from someone else than personally...Take the boat if you have room and know I am jealous whether you get to use it or not.
Hold out for a big bear:)
