Montana elk bullet
Posted by LaneW on Apr 25 2006
All three of my elk were killed with a bow. After reading and analyzing different comparisons including one that Seahook had in an earlier post and 2 articles by Rick Jamison one in October 2000 in Shooting Times and more recently in Petersen's Hunting "Premium Bullet Shootout", I would agree with Jeff L on those and add the Winchester XP3. If you are going to be creeping through dark timber and likely to be making a short range shot at elk angling away I'd favor the Trophy Bonded Bearclaw or the Swift A-Frame or the Triple Shock. If you are shooting at long range then I would lean towards the Swift Scirroco, MRX, XP3, or Interbond. Of course the most important thing is to hit them in the right spot. My 2 cents.
