booked hunt...
Posted by fullkurl on Apr 24 2006
Is there absolutely no way to get out of this booking?  I would simply ask your outfitter to justify the bou numbers for the last few years, if he cant, tell him you arent interested in a sub-standard experience.

If you cant get out of the booking, well, the other posts are good advice, just take it and go. Don't be depressed, it is big and beautiful country, worth a visit and a try for any bou.

If you can get out of the booking, go to the Kobuk valley and get your trophy bull.

And I might disagree with the other poster's Idaho comments all things considered.  I just visited there to look at property.  I saw moose, elk, deer, grouse, and turkey on/near the same parcel--unreal.
I've lived here (AK) quite awhile now, and yes, the hunting can be good or great, but often not.  Its cold, dark, smokey, expensive, increasingly political and no doubt extreme. This season is my last go-round.  Its been fun, but its been a tough go at times.
I hope to be headed to Idaho soon.
Best of luck, Frank
