synthetic sleeping bag
Posted by cold zero on Apr 22 2006
i have, like and trust my north face snowshoe 3d. rated to 0 degrees and weights about 3 lbs. 8 ozs. to be sure there are lighter bags out there, but for the money this is hard to beat. pretty light weight most bags weigh more.

i have used this bag for sheep, goat, moose, brown bear, deer several times. if it is warm then i leave the zipper open. i have never been cold yet in this bag.

a snug fitting hood and double zipper and draft tube are all important features. there are many diff' kinds of material to make a synthetic bag out of the more expensive ones are made of lighter material i.d. pertex, primaloft, etc.

a good pad, bivy and stuff sack are important accessories as well. the t.n.f. warranty is worthless b.t.w.
