We do need women-Thanks for the welcome!
Posted by Daisiemae on Apr 21 2006
I'm glad you agree with me. I probably won't articulate this as well as I want, only because I am so passionate about this goes at the risk of some flack--Here's a thought...if we do not welcome and encourage our women and get them involved in the shooting sports-all outdoor sports, guns and archery, fishing, camping etc., we have the risk of many of them through divorce, getting involved in other things having nothing to do with the outdoors EXCEPT maybe PETA etc. These women are raising our boys and girls sometimes without the input of a man who believes in the great outdoors and all it offers us. Maybe we could get these women who could end up tree huggers out there BEFORE divorce (once and a while)so they understand what it is really about.  If the guys would invite them and their kids along once in a while (many do already)more women and children -both sexes would understand the beauty of it all, even the hunting. How many men do we all know who have divorced over many issues, onE of which was the many hours and weeks men devote to hunting and getting away with the guys...which I now understand by the way. I wasn't always welcome when the kids were little and it did actually put a strain on the homefront I am fortunate enough to have a husband who listened to me and my desire to be in his world 10 years ago, yes ladies his world...It was the best thing that happened to us, I would follow him anywhere (especially in the woods) and I love every part of it. It is challenging physically but well worth the excitement added bond in my marriage and I would recommend it to any couple who has the opportunity try it. It did take a small adjustment (his buddies)and we do find that most of the men don't mind a women in camp and that we often find ourselves in the company of other couples who hunt together. So try it gals , hunting is much more than FUN....Cathy
