Bugs
Posted by AkHunter45 on Mar 31 2006
I've hunted the Brooks a few times in early fall and have not had to many problems with bugs. The only time i had a problem with bugs was when i shot a caribou in mid August. As soon as i opened him up the bugs came out of now where, no-seeums, whitesocks, and black gnats were drawn by the caribou's blood. It got so bad i had to cut a piece off the cheese cloth game bag and use it for a headnet and the constant buzzing and landing on the makeshift headnet almost drove me nuts. Do yourself a favor and bring a headnet along just in case. This happened out on the flat tundra, i have never had a problem with bugs in the mountains while hunting sheep.
