Lowa!!!
Posted by B_M on Mar 29 2006
I have a pair about 2 years old - not sure which model, to be honest, but they are gore-tex with rubber that comes up over the toes.  These are the best boots I've ever owned.  As for fit, I have a fairly narrow foot, small ankles, etc.  I've never really thought about the toe area, but it seems to have plenty of room.  I sheep hunt every year, and the sole is great for the mountains - stiff enough for climbing through the rocks, soft enough for hiking in the valley bottoms.  I just can't say enough good things about the Lowas.  I've also heard that the Lowa sheep hunter is a good boot, though I haven't tried it.

And yes, I've struggled with boots just as much.  It is, after all, the most important piece of equipment (in my opinion).  I can handle being a little damp, being a little uncomfortable, etc...but if the feet give out, the hunts over.

Good luck on your upcoming hunt!

-Brian

PS - I previously had a pair of Asolos, which I also really liked.  Might be worth taking a look there too.
