Now granted a Towelhead with an AK is not a Big Furry Teddy Bear, but I would assume you would want something that feeds reliable and shoots in all weather conditions. Granted Glock has successfully gone through all the torture tests, is the cartridge reliable? If your friend is hellbent on getting the 10mm then you can still get a wheelgun chambered for that cartridge. I would think wit and avoidance would fair you better with bears. How often do you all get rogue bears up there? I would stick with a wheelgun if I was you, and just to be humane (for the bears sake) I would go with a higher caliber, just because I give anything that hunts back that respect. S&W makes a sweet little six-gun call the 329. Shoots a .44 Rem Mag and is so light you won't even know its on your hip. I would still rely on the wit though.
