As far as locating animals binoculars should take care of that possibly but if not most angled have a guide or sight post system to get you in close proximaty to animal or target. I used angled for bear hunt and was able to remain behind scope and glass considerably longer I believe because of ease of sitting and adjustability of eyepiece angle to person.
