Kodiak Goat
Posted by AKHUNTINFOOL on Feb 28 2006
sal,

I hunted DG471 last fall and our plan was to land on an alpine lake. On the day (9/16) we arrive the air taxi informed us that landing on the lake wasn't an option due to weather conditions. We were dropped off on the bay and had to manuever through all the bears down on the river. Climbing up to goat country was a terrible bushwack but we got there and killed one goat. We didn't feel like we could pack  two goats all the way to the bay.

We flew with Roland of Seahawk air and they were great to work with. I recommend renting a satellite phone for your trip. We did not see any deer or bears up high. Good luck.
