[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] I've done this too Posted by 4whlr on Feb 28 2006 Last year shot a small black bear at about 70 yards. He was facing me and at a slight angle. Shot him with a 338-06. Bullet severed the wind pipe and broke the shoulder where it meets the spine. Needless to say, he dropped like a ton of bricks. Also did this with a caribou, although the angle was 1/4 towards me and not dead on. The bull heard something behind him and turned to look. Another 338-06 bullet through the neck where the spine and shoulder meet. Broke his neck, shoulder and three ribs on the opposite side. This has been the only animal that I've shot that never kicked while lying on the ground. He was stone dead before he hit the ground... Not saying everyone should try these shots, but if you spend the time to get proficent with you rifle, they can be done. Previous: It can be done 4whlr Feb 28 2006 Next: yes, yes, i know...
