This might be a dumb question, but is anyone out there busting black bears via spot and stalk, rather than baiting, in the spring?  I am not looking for a coastal bear chewing on beach rye, but maybe something off the Kenai trail system?  I've always held the belief that the bears will move uphill with the fresh greens, as they come out, in the spring.  My seven year old wants to get a bear, and since I don't have a boat anymore, a little walk-in spot and stalk might be a good.  In case you are wondering, baiting is way too much work and takes more time than I have.
