[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] B B pistol Posted by shphtr on Feb 28 2006 Several years ago a father and son were charged down on the Funny River by a sow griz while packing out a 'bou. The son emptied his 45acp at the bear....and killed it. I guess you use what you have on you at the time...that being said I certainly wouldn't recomment a 10mm for bear protection....but it would be way better than a sharp stick! One needs to make as good an informed decision as possible and then live with that decision. For me minimal bear protection with a pistol starts with a 44 mag and 300 gr hard cast bullets. I agree with previous opinions that more than likely one will only (hopefully) get one shot with a real charge.
