wolves & wolverines
Posted by Gary on Feb 28 2006
During the fall hunting seasons it's 1 & 1.  Wolverine was seen on a caribou hunt on the Penninsula in 89 (about 60 yds running through the brush - no shot).  Wolf was seen in Unit 21 on a moose hunt (about 90 yds across the river - no shot, my hunter was a bow hunter & wouldn't use my rifle on it).
I've probably seen 15 - 20 wolves total (outside Denali Park).
I did see 5 wolverines on a spring bear hunt on the Penninsula in 2000, but they were all sighted at over a mile (long range) on the snow on the mountian tops.  Still neat to see them.
