Dont Forget
Posted by AlaskaCub on Feb 28 2006
Anise oil. And I dont mean the grocery store bought stuff, the actual pure oil. It will not wash away after the first rain. Fill a large spray bottle with cooking oil and pour a few oz of pure anise oil in and shake it up. This is a dinner bell for bears. I wont set up  a bait without it. You can get to where you dont even need to fill the barrell, show up spray the whole area with this magic recipe and get in the tree. I have experimented with every scent from Vanilla to rotten fish and this one does teh trick. Plus teh bait station smells better while you are hunting. The smell of black licorice does something to the bears.
