charges
Posted by BRWNBR on Feb 28 2006
paul is right, chances of getting charged are slim and if you do....chances are you won't have enough gun anyway, no matter what you carry, teh 577 TREX might not even stop the bear, it all depends on what happens with that bullet. now truth be told, there will probably be time for more than one shot, all the charges i've been invloved with, bluff charges, i had time for fire a warning shot with room and time to reload and rethink the situation.
hi cap mags won't do you much good, i can agree with that, but what happens when the charge is over and he's sitting on your chest, i want all the bullets i can handle and then some. don't want a rifle or slug gun that takes two hands to operate, i want to stick as many tic tacs in his face and body as i can before i drift off to blood loss land.
your back up gun sould be one that you HOPE will deterr or deflect the charge, you want the bear to miss you, you don't have to drop it dead in its tracks to be a hero, just keep the bear off you. thats the whole point of survival. so with all that said, carry whats comfy, shoot it good and get the most outa the brass your bullets sittin' it. shoot straight and often.
other than that, hide.
