Caribou-Scoring video
Posted by AZBob on Aug 04 2003
The late Duncan Gilchrist put together a video on field scoring caribou.  Don't expect a broadcast-quality production, but you'll get some good information on what to look for on live bulls in the field as well as racks from bulls taken.  For $25 it's a pretty good investment.  His website is

Although the way caribou and elk are scored differs greatly, in my opinion, the scores of caribou parallel the scores of elk.  A 300 point bull elk is generally considered to be a mature bull, no longer a raghorn, and a 300 point caribou is also considered to be a mature bull.  A 350 bull is an excellent elk or caribou, and a 375 bull is one that dreams are made of, whether it's an elk or a caribou.
