i carry a 10mm when i'm fishing or hiking. its a colt 1911  and it holds nine, i've shot mt goat, sheep and grizzly with it. if i had a brownie on me, i'd use it and i'd stand behind it. 10mm is a highly underrate round on paper it don't make any sparkles. but take one and and do some shooting, i use 200gr hornaday XTP. granted its not a .416 rem at five feet but i shoot it better than most guys with revlovers and i can shoot it with my scalp over my eyes and blood in my mouth. recoil is less than a 44, so second shots are faster, ie double taps, target aquistion is fast for me, the gun fits better in my hand than a revolver. so i'd just say that with my 10mm i'd feel better with a charging bear than i would with a smith .500.
there is a spot where paper ceases to meet the real world.
