I carry a .44 mag and feel it might be a bit small too...but i have never heard of any1 carrying a 10mm for brown bears.  They make a round the .44 alaskan it's just a hot loaded hard cast round that is supposed to hit hard enough for a bear's head out of a .44 never tried never used it but i think i might start loading those.
