bushrat & northway
Posted by Brian Richardson on Feb 05 2006
Sincere good wishes bushrat & northway,

I feel we may want a ceasefire on much of this.  I am convinced by your lengthy written contributions and time/energy consuming convictions on all of this that indolent, lazy and so on does not go with you guys and a fair bunch tuning into our stuff.  I write here often (particularly if I go ballistic political) to distinguish if folks on here have strength of character and can go beyond the hissing matches by writing something down that plays a role of quality.

It is also noticeable you are both (like me) endeavoring to look from many angles to form an outlook… That’s important!  We Care!

Back in the Day…  Man it was not that long ago (lol) I rode my Schwin Scrambler Stinray on a road that crisscrossed and bridged critical habitat of Denali Park where now the busses traverse what still is characteristically critical habitat --- without doubt not the same anymore but in turn of events there sure are on heck of a lot more houses today up on the same mountain I walked 3 miles down & back to the bus as a kid.

Yes --- I can freight the load physically and mentally! Successful alpine ski racing career behind me with exceedingly tough physical demands at that high level, and now making my livelihood on packing or carrying loads about like hauling around middle linebackers… so no need to go there.  Sounds like we all gotta get ‘er done pretty darn often and love it – don’t it!

If anything --- I think we have revealed to one another what we are made of, and I see hard working guys that really do give a damn making the time to relate it to others.  For this a thanks regardless if we have a different opinion, share some things, confirm or overstep the facts to see fit for writings.

Bushrat - No need for anyone to think off-color on my invitation.
Northway – I’m glad that you recognized it as it was – My genuine offer.

Northway – I certainly noticed you did not slam me on modus operandi.
Please observe that I did not go about slamming an individual as well.

I very much agree what so many visitors come up here all this way and expense to see is barely the tip of the iceberg (no matter how grand they perceive it) and this casts their preconceptions into some kind of make-it-so zone.

I’m calling peace here as I am by and large middle moderate in my thoughts – I trust this is an accepted statement vs. throwing in the towel.  I view this as extremely important to Alaska’s future whether it be a wild place we were born into, have scraped to get here, or people will dream to visit.

Best wishes –
Brian Richardson
