We flew in 2 days before the season started and we were sucessful by taking two goats out by noon on opening morning. The jackalof road does allow for some backcountry access, but after flying the area, the access to the goats are very limited. I have an avid sheep hunter friend that drew the tag as well and hiked in from the road and gave up after hiking in 7 miles. The total number of goats don't reflect the amount of permits given out in the area. My suggestion is to land on the salt and go up. Any other info I can assist with let me know.
