A significant difference between wolves and bears, however, is the rate of reproduction. A depressed wolf population can rebound in a matter of years (large litter size, earlier sexual maturity, yearly reproduction), whereas a depressed grizzly population may take MUCH longer to rebound. Management decisions for grizzlies must be made very carefully in a forward-looking manner. Ethically there may not be a big difference between selling one or the other, but management-wise there is a significant difference.
