Selling Wild Alaska SHORT!
Posted by Brian Richardson on Feb 01 2006
I will not go into all the “limited studies” --- the assortment of some degree conflicting or analogous statistics ---- or quarrel over what can be just about any short term benefits for any sort of transaction.

What I am motivated to relate in and well-informed line of attack is the intrinsic worth of Keeping Alaska WILD!

The mode of the current Murkowski administration is in the direction --- IF it will make a $BUCK$ - Go for it despite the impending devastating consequences or the overall population’s collective unease… This very administrative who cares maxim (of course not all) of let’s build “wilderness roads,” saw down Tongass forests, break the earth excavating Pebble mine, stick an exceedingly costly bridge in the mud to have the Houston Police hand out more revenue-based speeding tickets, PLUS kill and sell predators so we can in turn kill more Moose & Caribou under the pretext of balance or maximum yields!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  CRAZY!!!!!!!

I’m all for sport hunting, sport fishing, responsible commercial catches, conscientious stewardship of the lands and waters, in addition to (optimistically held) fully-accountable fitting sustainable “progress” (development)

The still existent most significant worth of Alaska to the planet and human race is to keep Alaska a WILD place.  Alaska should be held in a sense of commonsensical balance… secure, stable, and unwavering from all this ill-bred greed.  My central theme is a far cry from holding Alaska in reserve of everything, and this is not based on personally expressive response either.  If Alaskan’s and the rest of the world fail to distinguish Alaska as a Wild Alaska, Alaskan’s will be the foremost frittered away squanderers.

Had to say my piece – Just can’t be too middle-of-the-road on this.
