Bushrat,
The study I mentioned earlier may or may not be available electronically. I have it in hard copy. It was also cited by the Alaska Magazine over a number of consecutive issues. It was a lengthy study. Your previous post emphasis's what I attempted to convey earlier, in that RECENT studies have been anecdoatal at best and the conclusions had better suit the current party line or the participants aren't going anywhere within the ranks. F&G is no different than any of the other state agencies, with regard to them having become political hotbeds. Some of the best employees have left the agencies (lots taken early retirements because they could not deal with the philosophical changes they were experiencing in their workplace), simply because they were not interested in the political processes.
Yes I have pondered the possibilities of what proper game management could accomplish with regard to achieving maximum sustained yeild. In my opinion, it can be achieved with two "simple" steps, habitat improvement (this is a biggie and should not be influenced by "naturalists" as man was given the ability to cultivate)and predator(man & beast) management (man being higher up on the heirarchy ALWAYS). Neither of which can be accomplished by politicians, as there would be some very unpopular decisions made to accomplish this goal.
Much can be done to mitigate the dark senario you portrayed in the previous post. I personally don't subscribe to the "Chicken Little" philosopy, that always results in knee jerk reactions, having serious negative impacts.
I am always impressed by your indepth research you conduct and share. Your children are very lucky to have you as their mentor. Vast libraries of knowledge are lost to the ages because they are in book or text format, and will never be reproduce electronically. My personal library will undoubtably ultimately go to the landfill as most do (have).
