Posted by Akres on Feb 01 2006 Did you ever read the conclusion of the most intensive study ever conducted on Brown/Grizzly Bear Predation? It was conducted in the 70's by ADF&G. It encompassed most of unit 13, Was titled the Case of the Disappearing Moose. Sows with cubs were the worst about taking calves and mature moose. They made a kill every four days. Interesting study and the conclusions are what we are faced with AGAIN!!! Hard learners aren't we. Seems as though knowledge is difficult to pass down. All the study in the world is useless, unless individuals are receptive to the findings. As for recent retirees from ADF&G, I would immediately question their position on game management. The party line lately has been one of protection, rather than consumption. We must remember and not let others forget, that the Ak Constitution mandates game populations be managed for maximum sustained yeild.
