Live To Hunt Another Day
Posted by DR B on Jan 31 2006
This is a great thread, I glad to hear that so many have spent time planning for the unexpected. I AGREE with all of the above recomendations.

The importance of being able to comunicate with with S&R can't be over stated. As a Doc I can treat most minor accidents and illness that arise in the field. The problem is most of what will kill you can't be treated defenativly with the best first aid kit. You need a modren ER and OR ASAP. So first thing in your kit should be:

1. Locator beacon (If you can't talk}
2. Sat Phone or other voice comunication.
3. GPS

A few other sugestions in adition to your list.
1. Asprin for MI(heart attack)
2. ABD (Army Battle Dressing) for bleeding
3. Dry clothes and space blankts in a water proof Bag.

You probly shouldn't close a wound in the field unless it is to stop the bleeding. The exception is if you are trained to do so and you have the proper supplies.
