[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Long Time No See Posted by Akres on Jan 21 2006 I haven't fished the N. Fork of the Kashwhitna, since the early 70's. When I did, we walked all the way in, on a trail that was well defined and used mostly by moose hunters in the fall, with track rigs and buggies. Believe me they kept the brush pretty well down to a minimum. Mostly grass would grow up and toughen up the trail for the next year. There was a small log cabin back close to the creek, complete with a few traps, wood stove, dry wood, a two-man crosscut saw and dog tie outs. It had a bunk bed made of wood and a small table. I have many fond memories of the fishing trips in there. I distinctly remember meeting a family in there one time, we shared a lunch and talked away the mid-day, waiting for the evening bite. It was a time when "cross words" with perfect strangers(fellow fishermen) simply did not happen. I don't think I will return there to see it now.
