Which is it?

Your first post states hunting "Near Caswell Lakes"  Then you talk about hunting the N. Fork.  NOW you're going to travel to the headwaters of the Kashwitna???

<smile> Or did you just start this thread so you could boast about the key?

Seriously though, if you wanna hunt bears in Caswell Lakes, a NICE Brownie was taken a few years ago by accessing the power line trail.
Lots more in there, it's a pretty decent Moose calving area and seems to concentrate the bears before the salmon get rolling.

As to the N. Fork, as it's been stated before it's bear scary in there and certainly do-able via this much argued about trail.  I've hiked almost to the top of the N. Fork (No real trail and a real horror story of a week long trudge) and there are a TON of big brownies up there.  Getting yourself in and then getting the hide etc out is the trick, know any chopper pilots?

In regards to the "Headwaters of the Kashwitna" The access you speak of seems to be a lil' on the round-a-bout way to get in there and getting OUT would be a hurculean task.  You'd be better off accesing that via Hatchers Pass on the Willow side....There's a road up there that if ya know the guy, who slept with the gal, who married the uncle of the cousin of the girl with the key to THAT gate you could use it to get in and out fairly easily.   =)
