The key word is ESCALATION
Posted by AlaskaHippie on Jan 20 2006
Yes that trail is getting trashed. By both the "gatekeepers" and the "gate crashers".  The key here is the ESCALATING confrontations in there. As AKClimber pointed out that trail is a designated right of way and has been since the early 20th century.  The Mail Trail joins that gated trail a few miles in and continues along it.  Care to explain why the Wards felt the need to drop Boulders and otherwise try to block that chokepoint?  Care to explain why they have told us in the month of JULY that our "trespassing" had ruined their Moose Hunt?  Care to explain some of the "younger" key holders driving up to the mouth of the N Fork in a small mudder pickup and blasting salmon with rifles and shotguns?  (Yes ethics police I DID report all this to the Palmer F&G office)  Care to explain why, when I have shown some of these key holders the laminated DNR stats that PROVE this is a right of way they then threaten physical violence?

Oh, and care to explain how a trail that runs for over 5 miles is all encompassed by a mere 2,000 acres?

So you know the Promised Land and The Tarp Man eh?  Wow..You local you..You've actually driven down the road.  If you are so knowledgable about all of this why do ya need more info?

As to your claim the Wards "devoloped" Caswell Lakes.  Dude, you've been sold a bill of goods.  That area was "devoloped" over 100 years ago when it was a fox farming, railroad, and mining comunity and the trail UP the Kashwitna (where the gate now blocks access) was used as a trade route for Denaina Natives and Prospectors.  If by "developing" you mean trying to lock up their own private game preserve for themselves...THAT I'll give ya.

As to Grizzly77.  I am not going to PM you or Email you.  I've had enough of the "Lords Of The North Fork" mentality for YEARS now.

Sorry for the long post folks.  I try to post as lil' as possible but this is an issue I have dealt with too many times.

Oh, and AK375HH, since you feel the need to post quotes here's on of yours.
"I have a key to the wards gate on the trail but i was sworn into the wards circle of protection sort of deal.  I have confronted people on the property before and would do it again without even blinking.

Bub, you ever confront me on property that you do not own, on a PUBLIC trail that has been gated for private use. In an area I have every right to be in....You better not blink...
