Yeah, I read Tom's article a while back, and though I think it's a good read, I'd still rather find myself better equipped in bear country.  I think if you show a bear Tom's article, he'll probably back off right away; they're pretty smart critters, ya know.  I think the one that got Treadwell was looking for his copy of the Wall Street Journal (I'm saying this with a smile on my face, but you can't see it from there).

A lot of what I wrote was just tongue in cheek, but still I prefer the rifle.  This topic gets a lot of play, but truly our chances of being struck by lightening are probably greater.  I believe in being prepared, but not in letting the issue dominate my thinking in the field.
