I am considering a 7 to 10 day caribou float hunt this fall. Myself and two other hunters would take my 16' self bailing roundy with a full Big Horn2 frame. I am guestioning the dimentional capacity more than wieght capacity. With 3 hunters at 200lbs each, 3-70lb personal gear and probably 80lbs food/camp gear, would there be much comfortable room 3 caribou? I know it would be heavy and slugish.
I have had 4 people in this raft on 70 mile floats from East fork Chulitna to the Big Sue a couple of times. For a family camp out float this raft was ok. But when considering 3 people and 3 animals, I am not so sure it would be big enough or maybe too much wieght.
I know there are a few experienced float hunters on this forum and I would sure like to hear from you.
