Strips and trails
Posted by AkHunter45 on Jan 13 2006
I know there are a lot of atv trails out there and they have all been there long before i got here. I know quite a few of them had to require a lot of backbreaking work to accomplish, just like the remote airstrips. I pose this question, why do people have so much heartburn with atv trails but not with remote airstrips? I know the problem is with the riders going off trail and creating trails that may only be used a time or 2 but the airstrips will always be used. Do they not damage the terrain? Are more being built every year? Don't a lot of the pilots use ridgetops and flat terrain to land on?
I now some of you will say there is no comparison but i'm pretty sure aircraft were accesssing the backcountry long before atv's were.
Maybe we should be paying closer attention to ALL the ORV traffic, not just the atv's.
