Loaded or empty chamber while hunting?
Posted by Thebear_78 on Jan 12 2006
I just wanted to get a idea what other alaskans do while hunting.  I normally hunt with a full magazine but empty chamber while hunting.  On the final stalk, sitting on stand, or tracking game I will load the chamber and put the safety on, but most of the time chamber is empty.   It seems like most of my buddies up here do the same thing.  Actually I can't think of anyone who doesn't keep the chamber empty except for those situations.  Most of my time hunting is spent in a boat, snowmachine, 4 wheeler, glassing or packing around with a rifle either slung cross shoulder or in a gun rack,  always empty chamber in those situations.

What do the rest of you guys do?
