Scope Advice
Posted by sal on Jan 10 2006
So I'm in the process of mounting a scope on the wifes new bolt action 30.06 and instead of going with the standard 3-9 variable, I figured I'd get some opinions from my buds on the Alaska Hunting Forum.
I thought about how when I was growing up and even in my 20s, all I ever had was a good 4X which I used to take everything from Whitetails, Mulies, and Elk to Pronghorns and Black Bear.
Anyway, I was thinking of going with a 1.5-6X40 or X50, or maybe even a fixed 4 or 6 power.  The lighter weight of the fixed power would let me get a 50mm objective lense instead of a 40.

Hell, I'll probably just get her the dang 3-9 or 3.5-10 Leupold Vari-X II or III, but figured I'd see what you all had to say.
