MEGA LIGHT
Posted by WinMag on Jan 07 2006
Brian's points are right on.

I opted for Black Dimond's Mega Light...  It's virtually the same as the MEGA MIDS but is made of super tough and light sil-nylon.  It's a dream for two (plus gear) and can sleep three easily if needed.
And it's considerably lighter than the MEGA MID.

I needed something light enough for ultra light sheep hunts but large enough that I could fit three if necessary.

I added the Mega Bug for a very versatile set up.

When every ounce counts and/or bugs aren’t a concern we take the - mega light w/ trekking poles and connector as support.

Or

Mega light, Mega Bug and carbon fiber pole for a bug proof, bathtub floor, solid, comfy set up...

I don't recall the weights but you can find all that info online or call AMH or REI.  As I researched it I found that there were several options out there very similar to the MEGA LIGHT but none that offered the versatility of a floor, bug tent, trekking pole connectors, all in one package.

My only personal experiences - I love it but as with any of these super light structures:

If condensation is a concern then pitch the tent leaving 4-6" of clearance around the base and/or leave outer door partially open.  If wind is a concern then cinch it down tight to the ground.  We have withstood some pretty stiff sustained winds...  It would definitely need some help if a real screamer storm blew in...  (Such as piling rocks on stakes, sod wall, gear wall or find a safe haven in the trees)

Anyway, last but not least...  If you really want something smaller than the MEGA LIGHT then look at the BETA LIGHT...  It just was not large enough for what I wanted.
