Christmas gift-giving
Posted by Michael Strahan on Dec 19 2005
Bigmnt,

I hear that S & W are offering their 500 in a Holiday Gift Pack specially for Alaska brown bear hunters.  Comes in a velvet-lined camouflage box with a new pair of undershorts (choice of calibers are boxers or briefs), and a small bar of soap.  Should be a big hit.

Pachmayr is also coming out with a new companion product for .500 users, just in time for Christmas; a rubber helmet (available in camo or blaze orange) designed to prevent recoil-induced head injuries.  It comes with a nylon webbing strap that attaches to a barrel band just aft of the front sight.  The strap attaches to an ordinary sling swivel there, and the other end is just a loop that you step through with the toe of your boot.  It's supposed to keep the muzzle down after that first shot, but you have to be careful.  If your legs aren't in good condition the recoil will bring your knee in contact with your chin.  If you don't position it exactly around your instep, you'll get some nasty scrapes as it rides up around your leg.

Happy Holidays!

:-D
