more boot info
Posted by seekins on Aug 30 2005
I searched the net and cabelas was the only place I could find in the USA.
Cabela's "Perfekt™" Hikers by Meindl are the ones I purchased. They have the factory foot bed in them and I am using a thin regular sock. These boots are going to be used primarily for warmer weather hunting. They won’t be the only boot I will have moose hunting as im sure its going to get a bit cold up in the interior, but I don’t want to tromp around with my heavy insulated boots if I don’t need to.
When I get back to Idaho and start elk hunting I will be putting on some hard miles so I have no choice but to have a boot that works.
It took three pairs to find one that fits and they fit better than anything I have had in the past. They are bending at the toe right at the bottom lace eyelet and pinching the top of my toe in that spot. I have plenty of room around and on top of my toes. The right boot is worse than the left.
Mendel boots came highly recommended by quite a few people so I thought I would try them out. Should I have purchased a different brand? I was using some mountaineering boots built by technica, but I wore out both pairs and they quit making them before I could get more. If there is a retail expert with these boots maybe I should have looked into it more before purchasing them through cabelas?
Thanks, Glen
