E Agree

I agree with the advice of getting tires with a load rating of E or better. They will have a stiffer ride because of the tougher sidewalls, but they will withstand a lot of abuse. I still take two spares just in case. Also drive slower than you normally would.
I just got back and thought the road was in great shape for the most part. It is much better than it used to be. The smoke from south of Fairbanks to Coldfoot was pretty bad going up. Less than 1/8 mile visibility in many places. Coming back it was raining, so the air quality was much better.
Hope your luck is better than mine. The first day there were caribou crossing the road in one area. I helped out a guy with a badly hit animal, so I did not take one then. The next day they were gone and were not to be found for the next ten days I was there. They are a lot like salmon. If they are there, the chance of success is good. If they decide to stay out of sight of the road you can do a lot of looking and still come up empty.
