Favorite week

To answer your question, the second or third week in Sept. By then two things have happenened. The pilots have been out there enough that they are getting a feel for the herd, location and travel, and the animals are starting to herd up more since the migration and the rutting season is on the horizon. and (ok, 3) the weather is finally pushing them out of the mountains.
