[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] specific details on GPS Posted by EricL on Jul 31 2005 I have a question concerning specifics on using a GPS. Although I feel pretty confident in all the basics of the receiver as I sit and think about the upcoming caribou hunt I have come up with some questions. (I don't want any surprises especially in an emergency!) #1 What is the most generally used datum format? #2 What is the most generally used format for coordinates? Degrees as a decimal, degrees and minutes, or degrees, minutes, and seconds. If I find myself in need of using the sat phone for an emergency I don't want to have to adjust the settings on the GPS. Thanks for any input. EricL Next: The word from SAR experts- WGS84! Michael Strahan Aug 04 2005 Message Thread:
