Kodiak Deer
Posted by northpolefolks on Jul 29 2005
Depends on where you plan to hunt on Kodiak.  North end has heavy alders and trees and is easier to hunt in the fall.  The south end has mostly grass/alders and it's easier to stalk with a little grass still on the ground.  The bears can be a problem in most areas if  you go too early.  I've had bears take deer and a elk I shot in Nov on Raspberry Island a few years ago.  I would defenitely go in Dec if you could.  Plan for some wind and cold days possibly but you won't have to hike as much most likely and less bears and brush to buck.  Lived there growning up and go back every year.
