the Metro
Posted by CDN DUCKNUT on Jun 28 2005
I don't run any operation here, but to tell you the truth I have more gear and better gear, than any outfitter in this area. Waterfowling is my main pursuit and I hunt across Canada as well as 3 or 4 States each year.

I welcome anyone to hunt with me that would like to make the trip.

In Bayou Meto, or the Metro as we call it, hunting is only allowed until noon, except for the last 3 days of the season. Not many paved roads in the area, when I hunt there we launch at upper or lower Vallier and that's all I'm familiar with.

Guides DID over-run the place, but guiding on public WMA's was completely banned in AR a few years ago. It's still over-run by out-of-staters, but when the ducks get there, there is some awesome hunting to be had. Limit is only 4 ducks now.

Arkansas is one of my favorite places to be, especially in January. Nothing like having 1000's of mallards working the decoys before legal, watching them break branches on there way down into the hole. Then, shooting 3 or 4 man's limits, and being able to head back to the ramp as the sun rises.

Your right, sunny days are key, when hunting in the timber, as my friends in AR taught, and showed me.
