Among other things he is a retired African PH and currently an elk guide (in Idaho). About a year ago he penned an article about hunting cloths and in that article he stated that the Patagonia R4 was the first article of clothing he packed wether packing for an international hunt or one state side. Bottom line is he gave it a no holds barred glowing recommendation. I have one and think that it will be and do everything it claims. You are right Patagonia things are spendy but are a prime example that you get what you pay for. One note of caution, they seem to run a bit on the small side so make sure you try one on before you purchase. In addition it will make a great pillow on your sheep hunt.
